Microsoft on Thursday resumed the publication of apps to the Windows Phone Marketplace after a digital certificate glitch forced Redmond to halt the process earlier this week.
"It will take a day or two for the repair to fully deploy and newly published apps to begin appearing in Marketplace again," Todd Brix, senior director for Windows Marketplace, wrote in an update to a Tuesday blog post. "If your app was in the process of being published, you don't need to take any action. We have applied the fix and the app will continue through the certification and publishing workflow as normal."
Earlier this week, Microsoft stopped pubbing new apps and updates to existing apps after uncovering an issue with its new digital certificates. The glitch only affected phones that upgraded to Windows Phone 7.5 "Mango" from an earlier version of the OS, and apps that were published in the last few days.
That included apps from the New York Times, WhatsApp, and Translator from Bing since they all recently issued new updates.
The snafu comes shortly after Microsoft rolled out a revamped Windows Phone Dev Center. The updated site was born out of the retired App Hub developer portal. It offers tools for building, publishing, and managing apps running Windows Phones 7.5 or earlier, and includes new payment options, like PayPal.
