After the first week of gaming, the contest is closer than it may seem.
Before we get into the events of the first week, let?s first make sure everyone knows the rules here. To aid with that, I created a simple rule board so that there is no confusion as to how the competition will be scored. (Click the image below to enlarge.)
Now that we have the rules in order, here?s a quick recap of how Week 1 of the competition went down.
All horses were off and racing on August 1st as the first annual BGB Game Completion Competition (GCC) got under way. After a grueling wee of killing aliens, smashing zombies, and running along rooftops, the pre-contest favorite known as Everyday Chris is off to a quick lead by completing Walking Dead Episode 2 and Mirror?s Edge, both on the PC, for 110 points. Anthony is not too far behind after wrapping up Portal 2?s Co-Op campaign for 66 total points. And although it may seem that Barry is in the slacker department, please note that the points on the board only show completed games and not games in progress. Barry is sure to make a big debut on the leaderboard once he finished up Super Metroid on the SNES, which he has logged well over 7 hours into already.
To help with keeping score, I also created an official GCC Tracker which will be updated every Monday with games and scores as they are completed. (Click image below to enlarge.)
As you can see in the official GCC Tracker above, Christian has a commanding lead early on, but there?s still a little under 3 months to go, and anything can happen from here on out. Until next week, happy gaming!
