How to Create and Operate an Ezine for Profit | Find New Articles at ...

Article by Matthew Baker

Maybe it shouldn?t occur as a large shock, but most persons online and some self-possessed ezine distributors usually do not know what the concept EZINE actually implies.

Ezines are electric ebooks distributed by e mail or posted with a site. Ezines are usually centered using a specified subject matter. Ezines are just like your common newspaper format of monthly or weekly topical ebooks in an electronic digital format.

The title EZINE doesn?t are available from your phrase Electronic Magazine, result in you could be pondering that the E in electric and also the Zine in newspaper are joined to kind this term.

Truly Ezine arrived through the word FanZine which was a publication having a little subscriber base back then. FanZines had been targeted publications that were definitely usually geared toward unique subjects like Sci-Fi, Fantasy, and Football clubs.

Those printed publications had been called ?FanZines?, but have been repeatedly referred to as ?Zines? rather.

Back again to modern days, most Ezines are focused close to specific topics and interest groups, much like the way the Zines after were.

Adding an?E? onto the beginning of the very much coveted publication name?Zines? brings us towards the expression Ezines. This delivers a significantly additional logical explanation of exactly where the concept ?ezines? came from.

Now that we know what ezines are, lets now examine the basics of making and doing enterprise with ezines.

Suggestions, articles, hyperlinks, resources, merchandise, resources, information, and so on. ? these are each of the things you are able to and really should give your visitors.

6. Be on time and regular. In case you posted that you simply will likely be sending out ezines after a week every single Monday, then do it that way. 7. Cause it to a priority to possess original content. If you?re not guaranteed about articles, then just write editorials or quick scripts with information updates, fascinating hints, and product or service assessments.

Cincinnati Geothermal Repair Tip - RineAir Heating & Air

After having a complete geothermal heating and cooling system installed in your Cincinnati?home, the last thing you want is to find that it is not working properly. So if your system is not performing as intended or if your bills are coming back higher than you expect, it is important to do some troubleshooting and possibly even call in a technician to find the root of the problem. Here are some possible issues that might lead to this happening:

  • Dirty Coils ? If the coils for your heat pump are dirty either inside or outside, it can directly affect performance for your entire system. These should be cleaned immediately.
  • Bad Compressor ? If your compressor is going bad, your system may not be getting any heat or cooling at all or it may be doing so but at the expense of your energy bills. Have it checked immediately.
  • Clogged Filters ? If a filter is clogged or blocked by debris clean or replace it right away. Such clogs can result in blocked air flow, increased stress on your system and air quality issues.
  • Low Refrigerant ? If there is a refrigerant leak, you can quickly lose heating and cooling from your geothermal heat pump. This is a situation that must be fixed by a Cincinnati?geothermal repair?professional, so call someone right away to perform a thorough inspection.

Because your Cincinnati?geothermal system uses the same technology as a standard heat pump to produce heat and cooling for your home, it is possible to have the same issues and they will in turn result in lowered efficiency throughout your home. If this is the case, call RineAir Heating & Air Conditioning?right away to inspect and repair whatever issues have cropped up in your system.

0 - Malecare's Advanced Prostate Cancer

We all know that abiraterone acetate (Zytiga) plus prednisone provides a survival advantage for men with castrate resistant advanced prostate cancer (mCRPC) who have had prior treatment with a taxane based chemotherapy. New information has shown that abiraterone acetate offers a somewhat longer overall survival benefit than the data originally presented when the trial halted in 2010.

In a summary report on the MedPage Today web site it was reported that abiraterone acetate plus prednisone provided a median overall survival benefit of 4.6 months compared to a placebo plus prednisone. The final analysis of the Cougar Trial showed that, prior to any cross over from placebo to the treatment group the median survival of the men in the treatment group was 15.8 months while the placebo group plus prednisone had a median survival of 11.2 months, a 4.6 month advantage to the treatment group.

The trial also showed that the median time to biochemical progression (PSA) was 8.5 months for the treatment group vs. 6.6 months for the control group. There was also a difference in the two groups in the median time to radiologic progression (5.6 months for the treatment group vs. 3.6 for the control.

Grade 3 and 4 side effects included fatigue, anemia, back pain, and bone pain which was reported in similar frequencies in both the treatment and the control group. However, the treatment group experienced more edema, hypokalemia, and hypertension than the control group.

The survival data shows that abiraterone acetate is still not as long as the overall survival benefit offered by data of the enzalutamide trial in a comparable group of men with mCRPC. However, we do not know about the possible effect of sequencing the drugs or even combining them. Additionally, we do not know what the effect would be on either drug if they too were sequenced with treatments like Provenge.

Touchdown! Soyuz spacecraft lands safely with Russian-US crew

A Soyuz spacecraft carrying two Russian cosmonauts and an American spaceflyer has landed safely back on Earth, wrapping up a four-month mission to the International Space Station.

A Soyuz space capsule carrying Russian cosmonauts Gennady Padalka, Sergei Revin and NASA astronaut Joe Acaba landed on the Central Asian steppes of Kazakhstan at 10:53 p.m. EDT Sunday (0253 GMT Monday), where the local time was early Monday morning.

NASA spokesman Rob Navias of the Johnson Space Center called the touchdown a "bull's-eye landing." The Soyuz TMA-04M spacecraft landed under a clear blue sky and touched down in a wheat field, with Russian recovery crews swiftly extracting the three spaceflyers from the capsule.

NASA spokesman Josh Byerly, who was onhand at the landing, said the Soyuz crew was in good health and spirits, with Acaba ? the sole American on the crew ? enjoying his return home.

"The second they pulled him out, he gave a big thumbs up and said 'It's good to be home,'" Byerly said of Acaba in a NASA broadcast. Acaba was all smiles after exiting the spacecraft. He and his Russian crewmates signed their Soyuz spacecraft, which is destined for a Russian museum, before heading off to planned medical checks. [Landing Photos: Soyuz Capsule Lands Safely]

A mission to remember

Now that they're back on terra firma, Acaba, Padalka and Revin may begin to reflect on a spaceflight experience filled with memorable and dramatic moments. Their 125-day spaceflight began in mid-May and included three spacewalks and several robotic cargo ship arrivals.

The drama started before they even left the ground. The three spaceflights were originally slated to blast off in March, but a pressure test incident cracked their first Soyuz capsule, causing a six-week delay while another spacecraft was readied.

The trio finally launched on May 14 and arrived at the $100 billion orbiting lab May 17. Just eight days later, SpaceX's robotic Dragon capsule docked with the station on a historic demonstration mission, becoming the first private vehicle ever to do so.

Dragon is likely to make the first of 12 contracted cargo runs to the orbital outpost for NASA next month, space agency officials have said.

Toward the end of the three astronauts' stay, on Sept. 5, crewmates Sunita Williams and Akihiko Hoshide performed an extra spacewalk ? the third for the mission ? to replace a vital power unit on the station's backbone-like truss. Using improvised tools such as spare parts and a toothbrush, Williams and Hoshide defeated a stuck bolt that had delayed the fix a week earlier.

"Looks like you guys just fixed the station," astronaut Jack Fischer told the station crew that day from Mission Control at NASA's Johnson Space Center in Houston. "It's been like living on the set of Apollo 13 the past few days. NASA does impossible pretty darn well, so congratulations to the whole team."

New station crew takes charge

The departure of Acaba, Padalka and Revin brought the 430-ton orbiting complex's Expedition 32 to an end. Padalka commanded the expedition, while Acaba and Revin served as flight engineers.

Williams is now in charge of the new Expedition 33. She, Hoshide and cosmonaut Yuri Malenchenko will have the station to themselves until mid-October, when three more astronauts will float through the hatch and bring the expedition up to its full complement of six crewmembers.

Tonight's landing wrapped up the first-ever spaceflight for Revin and the second for Acaba, who visited the station during the space shuttle Discovery's 13-day STS-119 mission in 2009.

Padalka, on the other hand, is a veteran of several long-duration space station stays. He commanded the orbiting lab's Expedition 9 in 2004 and its Expedition 19 in 2009. Padalka also logged 198 days in orbit as commander of Expedition 26 aboard Russia's Mir space station from August 1998 to February 1999.

With the Expedition 32 mission now complete, Padalka has a total of more than 700 days in space, making him fourth in the world on the list of people with the most time spent in space.

'Masterpiece' adds Ralph Lauren Corp. as sponsor

LOS ANGELES (AP) ? PBS' "Masterpiece" drama showcase is getting a fashionable new supporter.

The public TV program said Monday that the Ralph Lauren Corp. will become a national sponsor, marking the company's first TV sponsorship.

"Masterpiece" executive producer Rebecca Eaton called Lauren's support a tribute to the program, home of the hit British period drama "Downton Abbey."

During last February's New York Fashion Week, Lauren presented his fall 2012 collection to music from "Downton Abbey," telling The Associated Press that he's "always loved the heritage and romance of England."

Lauren's first on-air display of sponsorship begins Sept. 30 with the series "Upstairs Downstairs," which the company called another source of fashion inspiration.

Ralph Lauren joins current "Masterpiece" corporate funder Viking River Cruises. Viewer donations and the Masterpiece Trust also help fund the program.

(AP) ? Tropical Storm Leslie moved slowly northward Saturday after pausing to spin in place over the Atlantic, and forecasters expected it would regain strength and become a hurricane before passing to the east of Bermuda.

The latest forecasts pointed to the storm going by about 200 miles (320 kilometers) east-southeast of the British territory Sunday afternoon or evening as a Category 1 hurricane, the Bermuda Weather Service said.

"It appears that Bermuda will be spared a direct impact," Wayne Perinchief, the national security minister, said Friday. "However, I urge the public to remain cautious as there is the potential for the storm to re-intensify and change track, and we could experience heavy rain and winds in shower bands."

Some businesses closed early Friday and shops were crowded for a second day with people buying emergency supplies. At least one cruise ship canceled a stop in Bermuda and the airport was expected to close.

Bermuda, a wealthy offshore financial haven and tourist destination, has strong building codes and is accustomed to storms.

The U.S. National Hurricane Center in Miami said Leslie had resumed forward movement after staying stationary Thursday night and into Friday. Saturday morning, the storm had top sustained winds of 65 mph (100 kph), below the hurricane threshold of 74 mph (120 kph).

Leslie was about 310 miles (500 kilometers) south-southeast of Bermuda and was moving north at 5 mph (7 kph). The U.S. center said it would likely strengthen Saturday and Sunday and was expected to begin gradually increasing its forward speed.

Out in the middle of the Atlantic and considered no threat to land, Hurricane Michael was a category 2 storm with maximum sustained winds of 100 mph (160 kph). On Thursday, it was briefly the first Category 3 of the Atlantic hurricane season.

Michael was moving north-northwest at 5 mph (7 kph). It was about 925 miles (1,490 kilometers) west-southwest of the Azores.

Dutch vote to test EU popularity in tough times

BOXMEER, Netherlands (AP) ? The Netherlands has long been a source of inspiration for closer European integration ? and a bellwether of European discontent.

It was one of six nations that forged fledgling European unity from the ashes of World War II, and a force behind the treaty that created the euro currency. Yet, along with France, it also put itself at the vanguard of the euro-skeptic tide by rejecting a proposed European constitution in a referendum.

As the nation heads into elections on Wednesday, observers are wondering which of the two Netherlands will emerge: the EU guiding light or the harbinger of European disarray.

The answer could be an indication of the very direction of Europe.

"Every Dutch election has been at the forefront of what is the mood everywhere in Europe," says political analyst Piotr Maciej Kaczynski of the Center for European Policy studies.

In 2005, Dutch voters deepened a major continental crisis by rejecting a historic EU constitution just three days after the French gave their historic "Non" ? effectively killing the charter. In the upcoming elections, the Dutch are pondering even greater existential questions for Europe ? whether to stick with the union and its currency or try to fix both from the inside.

Not surprisingly, the most extreme view ? ditch the EU ? comes from firebrand populist Geert Wilders, who first rose to prominence with strident anti-Islam rhetoric that resonated across Europe. At the other end of the spectrum is outgoing prime minister Mark Rutte, a staunch believer in EU integration who also hews closely to the hardline budgetary conservatism of German Chancellor Angela Merkel.

In between are a slew of euro-skeptic parties that are also nonetheless conscious of the bloc's importance to the Netherlands, a nation whose economy is built on exports.

The leader of one such party is Emile Roemer, who heads the left-wing Socialists. His campaign symbol is the tomato, after the rotten fruit his supporters feel to be the just deserts of the EU-loving political establishment.

Roemer gained fame during the campaign by saying that, if he joins the next Dutch ruling coalition, the Netherland would pay fines to Brussels for missing budget targets "over my dead body." At a recent campaign stop in his home town of Boxmeer, a verdant town in eastern Netherlands close to the German border, Roemer handed out tomato-flavored ice cream and said he wants "A more social Europe."

His Socialists polled strongly throughout summer campaigning, before falling back to third place in a complicated race that will likely lead to long negotiations to form the next ruling coalition.

Labor Party leader Diederik Samsom, whose criticism of the EU is more moderate, has now taken over from Roemer as the torch bearer for the left going into Wednesday's vote.

There is nothing moderate about Wilders, who argues that Europe has turned into a costly charity project for his country. He says that wealthy northern European nations like the Netherlands and Germany have spent billions bailing out debt-ridden governments in Greece and Portugal, which he casts as profligate beyond reform.

"The best days of the Netherlands are ahead of us if we no longer pay southern Europe, if we become a master of our own house, and are able to take our own decisions again," he said during a high-profile televised debate at Amsterdam's Carre theater.

Polls have been fluctuating over the past months, and the latest indicate that Wilders could lose up to a fourth of the 24 seats he won at the last Dutch election in 2010. Rutte's party tops polls, with Samsom's Labor trailing close behind.

The Netherlands and an expanding EU were long a perfect match for this centuries-old trading nation.

In the wake of World War II and ensuing hunger, Sicco Mansholt, a Dutch farmer who became the fourth president of the European commission, formed a vision of a united Europe in which nations would work together to stave off famine. He was the architect of a common European farm policy that eventually evolved into deeper economic union.

The Dutch government also was one of the driving forces behind the 1993 treaty that ushered in monetary union and, eventually, the euro currency. The treaty was signed in the picturesque southern Dutch city of Maastricht and still bears its name.

But the 2005 "No" vote on the EU constitution and anti-EU resentments that have deepened ever since show the Netherlands now to be possibly at the forefront of a continental tipping point.

Certainly, the generosity that once accompanied the EU's expansion into poorer nations has largely evaporated.

And the way the Dutch vote on Wednesday will be parsed for potential insights into the outcome of elections next year in a much more important rich northern European country: Germany.

"This is the prelude before the huge elections we will have next year in Germany," Kaczynski said.

Miley Cyrus delays wedding to finish album

Los Angeles, Sep 8: Teen Sensation Miley Cyrus is putting her wedding plans on hold as she records her new album.

The 19-year-old announced in June that she was heading down the aisle with Australian actor Liam Hemsworth.

But Cyrus admits she is yet to begin organising the ceremony as she is too busy preparing her upcoming release, reports contactmusic.com.

Speaking at the Mtv Video Music Awards, she explains: "I'll have a single out this year. This is the first time I get to tell people about it, so I'm really excited. It's all really different. We've been working really hard and the record, I'm really proud of the album. It's my favourite thing I've done, probably ever."

The singer insists she is in no rush to marry and is happy to enjoy a long engagement.

"I've got so much going with this record. This record's going to, like, kill me. I'm really excited to get obviously married, but I kind of already feel married. I know we're forever and I don't really need a paper right now," she added.

Looking for Guardians and Pagelings!

Chances are, if you're reading this, you want to know what a Pageling is. If not and you want to check out my roleplay before you spoil the not-so surprise, just skip past the quote!
Of the Pagelings
Image

Image

Where to begin? Well, to begin, a Pageling is a being, born of the thought and feeling behind a story. While not exactly human, a Pageling will take a human form to blend in. More often than naught, the forms they take will reflect the type of story the Pageling is from. For instance, a tale of love will be presented as a beautiful girl or handsome boy whereas a tale fraught with adventure will have a sturdy Pageling that you would expect to be the story's protagonist. This is true for every Pageling in some degree. But what makes them worthy of this story is their abilities.

Each Pageling has the power of papercraft. No not some cheap parlor trick. Any child with a sheet of paper could fold it into a flower or swan. No, Pagelings are able to conjure paper out of thin air, and with practice, make it take on the shape and abilities of anything they wish. If they want a sword, all they have to do is imagine it and a paper sword will appear to them, stronger than steel but light as a feather. Rumor has it that they can even make creatures from their powers. This makes them not only different, but valuable as weapons and hunted by many. However, these abilities only come forth after a Pageling has been fully realised and practiced them. Most Pagelings go about their lives without realising what they are.

But there always those who know more than you.

The story behind "Of the Pagelings" is the classic, 'things aren't exactly what they seem' story but with a twist. Instead of beasts in disguise, the Pagelings don't know what they are. They go about their lives assuming they are human until they die, are convinced otherwise or are taken by the people hunting them. These hunters are known simply as "The Fallen" and are, as you'd expect, a group of failed Guardians. They have the desire to (what else?) abuse the Pagelings' power for their own gain. As more and more go missing, the Guardians have to step up their game and possibly (definitely) even team up to stop The Fallen, protect their Pageling wards and overall, survive.

Here's the link if anyone is interested. The story's still rough but bit by bit it will grow with the help of all the players!

"I saw the traveler make his way toward the monolith,
That thin gash amidst the clouds;
An open seam between heaven and earth that eluded the Eye of God.

Or perhaps it had not; perhaps it beckoned from one realm
To the other, wedded And ruled as one;
For look how clean it splits the horizon 'twain, absorbs it,
Makes it Strange,
An indomitable beam,
A Tower of Heaven."

Forcing the molecular bond issue

Thursday, September 6, 2012

Material properties and interactions are largely determined by the binding and unbinding of their constituent molecules, but the standard model used to interpret data on the formation and rupturing of molecular bonds suffers from inconsistencies. A collaboration of researchers led by a scientist at the U.S Department of Energy (DOE)'s Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory (Berkeley Lab) has developed a first-of-its-kind model for providing a comprehensive description of the way in which molecular bonds form and rupture. This model enables researchers to predict the "binding free energy" of a given molecular system, which is key to predicting how that molecule will interact with other molecules.

"Molecular binding and unbinding events are much simpler than we have been led to believe from the standard model over the past decade," says Jim DeYoreo, a scientist with the Molecular Foundry, a DOE nanoscience center at Berkeley Lab who was one of the leaders of this research. "With our new model, we now have a clear means for measuring one of the most important parameters governing how materials and molecules bind together."

DeYoreo is one of the two corresponding authors of a paper in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences (PNAS) that describes this research. The paper is titled "Interpreting the widespread nonlinear force spectra of intermolecular bonds." The other corresponding author of this paper is Raymond Friddle of DOE's Sandia National Laboratories. The third author is Aleksandr Noy, of DOE's Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory.

It takes energy to form or rupture the bonds between or within molecular systems and one of the principle experimental tools used by researchers to characterize inter- and intra-molecular bond energies is dynamic force spectroscopy (DFS). Under DFS, the bonds of a molecular system are subjected to controlled stretching or torsional force until the bonds break. The resulting data are arranged as a plot of the rupture force versus the loading rate to produce a force spectra, which has for the past decade been analyzed using the irreversible single-bond model.

"Under the irreversible single-bond model, force spectra are expected to form straight lines, at least for the irreversible rupture of a single inter-molecular bond over a single energy barrier," DeYoreo says. "Surprisingly, however, as more DFS data were collected on a variety of different molecular systems, a peculiar commonality began to emerge: Most showed nonlinear trends in the force spectra."

According to DeYoreo and his colleagues, the irreversible single-bond model makes the erroneous assumption that, under laboratory conditions, once a molecular bond is ruptured it is never restored. This leads to further erroneous assumptions that result in inaccurate predictions about the extent to which two molecules will bind. Such predictions are important across a broad range of fields to both understand interactions in natural systems and to design synthetic analogues.

"For example, we would like to be able to predict with reasonable certainty whether a proposed synthetic polymer can be used to outcompete an antibody for a biosensing assay, or whether a specific type of virus particles will adsorb to aerosol droplets," DeYoreo says.

The new model created by DeYoreo and his colleagues avoids the erroneous assumptions of the irreversible single-bond model to obtain predictions that are more compatible with experimental results. The model is unique in its ability to explain the rupturing of molecular bonds in terms of a single energy barrier rather than multiple-energy barriers. This yields critical information on the binding free energy of a molecular system.

"If one wants to understand the behavior of interfaces, whether between two molecules or between two materials, the most important number to know is the binding free energy," DeYoreo says. "This has been a difficult number to come by, but we've shown that with our model it can be easily extracted from DFS measurements."

The collaborators successfully tested their model using data from 10 different molecular systems. These tests showed that the model provides a comprehensive description of force spectra for a diverse suite of bonds over experimentally relevant loading rates. The model eliminates the inconsistencies of the irreversible single-bond model and provides ready access to both kinetic and thermodynamic information about molecular and material interactions.

"We're now using our methodology to determine how biomolecules associated with the formation of hard materials interact with the surfaces of such materials to direct their rates of growth and their architecture," DeYoreo says.

Risk Factors of Domestic violence part 1 ? opt4

We live in a society that is in flux!

It?s constantly changing, and constantly becoming different.

We, here at opt4, are striving to direct this changing society of ours so that it becomes a society where violence toward our loved ones doesn?t exist. Actually, I step back?we are not only striving to prevent domestic violence and all the names that are used to refer to it (Intimate partner violence, family violence, domestic dispute, etc, etc), but also violence in general.
We are working to look at the root causes of violence, exploit it, and ask everyone who reads or sees our posts to please help us change it. We are asking everyone to repost, reblog, retumble, and even tweet all of the information we put up so that we are able to speak to and inform as many people as we possibly can.

The more people who know, the more change will exist.

The more change that happens, the less people get abused?.the less people become a prisoner in their own house/relationship?..the less people are treated horribly and disrespectfully?..the less people DIE!? Yes, DIE!

We must always remember that the root cause of all violence, especially Domestic violence, is power and control. The belief that one person(regardless of gender) wants to have power and control over another person and they will do anything and go to any extremes to make sure they have this control and have this power.

But, what creates this idea that someone would want such power and control?

These are called the risk factors?the things that promote domestic violence in a person and in our society.

Risk factors and the way of overcoming them?is what this blog is all about. For when we overcome the risk factors, we end the violence.

Riskfactors

These are the factors in people who create a person to crave power and control over someone else.

1. Lack of empathy or belief in superiority over their partner? gender, Jealousy

This is the view that men are better or must have power of women.? This idea is used in ALL relationships, even ones where the partner is the same sex. No matter what, the abuser views the other person as below them and they need to be controlled to do what is ?best for them?.

This view ok?s all maltreatment and violence towards women and gay men because they are seen as weaker, child-like, and even objects to be used.

We see this throughout our world in the way women and gay men are treated and refereed to.? Women are seen as objects and body parts to be looked at and used for the pleasure of whomever is viewing them. We exploit this idea by creating ads and video depiction of women as nothing else but a pretty face and pretty body and nothing else. (If you look back through the blog you will see many depictions of women as objects, items, and in archaic limiting social roles.)This then creates the porn culture, the sexist advertising and industries, and limitations on girls and women.

When these views are felt by a person, they begin to see everything and everyone as either ?mine?(property) or ?theirs? (not my property). When we see things as property, we protect it and keep it safe from someone else having it. This kind of makes sense with your $80,000 car. You?re going to make sure that no one hurts it, touches it, drives it, and when you?re away you have to protect it with alarms, surveillance systems etc. However, when you do this with a real person it is called slavery. YOU CAN NOT OWN ANOTHER PERSON!? When a person decides that a person is their property or belongs to them?.jealousy exists and it can end in fatal results.? Nobody owns someone?s movements, thoughts, or ideas?.and jealousy believes that you do.

Gay men are depicted and exploited to be seen as toys for other men and as weaker than ?normal straight? men. Because this risk factor hold ?men? as the top of the pyramid, anything less is below them and bust be controlled and injured in order for those under the ?man? to understand ?his? superiority. Gay men, are a particular threat to this idea of manhood since they are men. Not only are they not women, who according to this risk factor are obviously below men, but they mock the ?real man? by looking like him, by sharing his gender, and by wanting to be seen as equal to him.

The more we can educate people out of this misogynistic attitude and idea, the more respect for women and gay men will appear.

Falcao takes to Twitter to reject father's claims that he 'dreams' of playing for Real Madrid

Atletico Madrid striker Radamel Falcao has reaffirmed his commitment to the club after his father told a Colombian radio station that he "dreams" of playing for city rivals Real Madrid.

Goal.com revealed on Wednesday that Manchester City lead the race to sign the former Porto striker, who has a ?60m release clause in his contract, when the transfer window re-opens in January.

And his father, Radamel Garcia, had also claimed that his son had his heart set on a move across the Spanish capital.

But the 26-year-old has since taken to Twitter to renounce those comments.

"So that everybody is clear, my dream is to keep on winning things with Atletico Madrid and help Colombia qualify for the World Cup," he stressed on the social networking site.

Talking to Colombian radio station?Todelar, Garcia had claimed that his son has always wanted to play for Los Blancos.

"His dream is to one day play for Real Madrid," he El Gran Debate.

"Always, since childhood, he has wanted to play there."

Garcia did admit, however, that there has indeed been interest from the Premier League champions, as well as Chelsea.

"Other teams like Manchester City and Chelsea have been interested in him. If he cannot go to Madrid, then he would go to English football," he continued.

"Above all, he wants to go to Madrid. He will change his team at the end of the season."

(AP) ? Syrian President Bashar Assad told the head of the International Committee of the Red Cross in talks in Damascus on Tuesday that the group is welcome to operate on the ground in the country as long as it remains "neutral and independent," state media reported.

ICRC spokewoman Rabab al-Rafai did not give further details about Assad's meeting with Peter Maurer, but said the Red Cross chief later met with Deputy Foreign Minister Faysal Mekdad and was also holding talks with the head of the Syrian Arab Red Crescent, Abdul-Rahman Attar.

"President Assad confirmed Syria welcomes the humanitarian operations that the organization is conducting on the ground in Syria as long as it works in a neutral and independent way," the state-run SANA news agency quoted Assad as saying.

Maurer's three-day visit, which began Monday, comes as the need for humanitarian assistance in Syria has grown increasingly urgent with the fighting having spread to the country's two largest cities ? the capital Damascus and the commercial hub of Aleppo. Activists say August was the bloodiest month since the uprising against Assad began in March 2011, with about 5,000 people killed.

The escalating bloodshed has prompted a growing exodus by Syrians looking to escape the conflict.

The U.N.'s refugee agency, UNHCR, said Tuesday that 100,000 refugees fled Syria to neighboring countries in August, the highest monthly toll since the crisis began. In Geneva, agency spokeswoman Melissa Fleming said the rise in people seeking asylum in neighboring countries brings the total of Syrian refugees registered or awaiting registration with the UNHCR to 234,368 as of September 2.

The Red Cross said earlier that during his trip Maurer would address the "rapidly deteriorating humanitarian situation" and the difficulties which the ICRC and the Syrian Arab Red Crescent face in reaching people affected by the country's civil war.

"At a time when more and more civilians are being exposed to extreme violence, it is of the utmost importance that we and the Syrian Arab Red Crescent succeed in significantly scaling up our humanitarian response," Maurer said in comments made before his arrival in Syria. "An adequate humanitarian response is required to keep pace with needs, which have been growing exponentially."

Maurer added that during his visit, he also intended to follow up on points agreed to in April, such as expanded access to persons detained in Syria and "the imperative necessity of helping civilians affected by hostilities."

Syria's uprising began with largely peaceful protests against Assad's regime, but has since morphed into a civil war in the face of a brutal government crackdown. Activists say at least 23,000 people have been killed so far.

The civil war witnessed a turning point in July when rebels carried out an audacious bombing in Damascus that killed four high-ranking security officials, including the defense minister and Assad's brother-in-law. Since then, the regime has succeeded in largely quelling a rebel offensive in the capital, but has struggled to contain an opposition push into the northern city of Aleppo, the country's commercial hub.

On Tuesday, Abdul-Qadir Saleh, the commander of the Tawhid Brigade that is spearheading the Aleppo offensive, said rebels now control most of the city, Syria's largest.

"The regime only controls 30 percent of Aleppo," Saleh told reporters in Istanbul. He added that regime forces are now attacking civilian areas in an attempt to "turn civilians against the rebels."

Saleh's claim could not be independently verified, and the government says its troops are advancing in the city.

Also Tuesday, activists reported scattered violence across the country, including in Aleppo and Idlib in the north, Daraa in the south as well as the Damascus suburbs.

Obesity weighing on America ? Latin America, that is

The fattening of Latin America mirrors a global pattern that has left some 1.5 billion adults overweight. Now, from Mexico to Chile, it's triggering a political response.

Santiago, Chile; and Mexico City

It's a gloomy day in downtown Santiago, Chile. Men and women in dark clothes hustle down a pedestrian mall, rushing back to work as their lunch break ends. But for many children, the gray scene is pierced by a beacon: a local McDonald's restaurant with bright, wall-sized posters of ice-cream cones and hamburgers, a warm entryway, and especially the promise of children's meals with toys tucked inside.

If Chilean Sen. Guido Girardi has his way, however, there will be no more "Ice Age" figurines or other cartoon-movie icons to tantalize tots. Senator Girardi filed a complaint Aug. 1 against McDonald's, Burger King, and Kentucky Fried Chicken for allegedly marketing to children using toys, and demanded that the nation's health ministry crack down on food manufacturers that use stickers, games, or other child-friendly paraphernalia to draw in the youngest consumers.

The move comes as Chile's waistline continues to expand. With a quarter of Chileans registering as obese, the Andean country's residents are now almost as overweight as the British, and quickly catching up to North Americans.

Recent studies show almost a quarter of first-graders in Chile are clinically obese, which means they have a body mass index (BMI) ? their weight in kilograms divided by the square of their height in meters ? of 30 or more.

Chile is not alone in Latin America. Mexico is vying with the United States for the distinction of being the world's heaviest nation, depending on which demographic is being studied. Only North America exceeds South America in terms of how heavy the population is. Even in Central America, where some countries are more associated with malnutrition, obesity rates are increasing.

The fattening of Latin America follows global patterns that have rendered 1.5 billion adults worldwide overweight or obese: Women are working outside the home, free trade has meant easy access to processed foods and sweetened beverages, jobs are more sedentary, and kids have moved from the soccer field to the television set. And with incomes rising in low- and middle-income countries, obesity is something that developing-world politicians will increasingly have to battle as food and beverage manufacturers eye new markets.

"There is an increased push by global food companies," says Barry Popkin, a global nutrition expert at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. "Because of growing incomes in Brazil and all the growth in China," he cites as two examples, "they are putting their efforts there now."

Mexico saw one of the quickest increases in obesity rates in the world between 1990 and 2010.

A diet that used to be based on corn and beans, flavored with tomatoes and peppers from the fields, is now increasingly industrially packaged. Fried food is everywhere, with the prices of cooking oils way down. At almost any time of the day, children and adults alike snack on everything from supersize juices to cobs of corn smothered in mayonnaise. Coca-Cola is gulped in vast quantities: Mexico is the biggest consumer of the soda on the planet.

According to Mexican government statistics, 70 percent of Mexican adults are overweight or obese (29 percent of that tally are obese). More than one-quarter of children ages 5 to 11 are overweight. Forty percent of children and adolescents do not exercise. The difference between an overweight and obese BMI is a jump from 25 to 30 on the index.

Though obesity has historically been higher in the developed world, studies have shown that obesity rates in Latin America have exceeded those in many developed countries, says Jason Nagata, a medical student at the University of California, San Francisco who has conducted obesity research in Guatemala.

In this Central American country, which has had one of the highest rates of malnutrition for children in the world, the prevalence of residents who are overweight or obese increased from 34 percent in 1995 to 45 percent in 2002.

Is Commercial Real Estate A Good Investment? | Overseas Property

Commercial real estate is a double edged sword. You can earn a lot of money through real estate investments, but you can also lose your investment and end up in a worse position than you started in. Selecting your property carefully and choosing financing that is trustworthy is key. This article will carefully guide you through the real estate process.

Before being occupied, your new purchase my need some improvements or remodeling. Cosmetic changes like painting walls and rearranging furniture might be needed. However, many people find they need to take out or add walls to make modifications to the basic floor plan. Talk to your landlord about these improvements. Try to negotiate a deal where the landlord pays for some, if not all, of the cost of improving your space prior to moving in.

Before you even start looking for real estate, your business needs should be in line. Define the type of office space your business needs. If you?re growing a company, buy more space than you currently need to save money before the market prices rise again.

In order to determine whether or not the real estate broker you?re working with is right for you, discuss their definitions of successes and failures. Also inquire how they personally measure their results. Make certain that you comprehend their strategies and techniques. If you disagree with the real estate agent?s methods, continue looking for the right broker for you.

When advertising your available commercial property, do so locally, but also regionally and even nationally. Too many people assume that only the locals are interested in buying property in the area. There are many private investors who buy property outside of their area if the price is affordable.

As was stated near the beginning of this article, the realm of commercial property investment is not a magical source of free money. You must put in effort, time, and a large capital investment to make it succeed. Even by pouring in all that, you still have a chance of losing

The Real Housewives of New York City: Slutty Island

St. Barts becomes "Slutty Island" as The Real Housewives of New York City kick their girl's vacation into high gear, but an extra guest changes everything.  We recap who is in need of medication and who should just go home in our THG +/- review.

It's the night after LuAnn's tryst with Tomas and she's being unusually quiet or as Sonja says, LuAnn is in "clamp down mode."  Whatever you want to call the Countess sure looks guilty.  Minus 7.  Was one night with Tomas really worth it?

I wonder if there's any real guilt here.  Would anyone be surprised if LuAnn and Jacques had an open relationship?

Sonja & Tomas

Tomas is certainly open for business as he flirts with the rest of the ladies.  Plus 10 to Tomas' broken English as he tries to use LuAnn's line and ends up with "money can't pay your class."  No.  No it can't.

I can't say I see Tomas as all that.  I'll even give Heather a plus 8 for asking, "Which one of these lucky ladies is going to take home the greasy prize?"

And the winner is…Sonja. She even has the bruises to show for it the next morning. Tomas is a busy boy. Slutty island, indeed.

Plus 15 because everyone is actually having fun.  Even Heather and Ramona are getting along. The ladies are laughing, enjoying the sun, the drinks, and the skinny dipping and then it comes to a screeching halt.

Buzz kill, thy name is Aviva.

Aviva shows up with Reid in tow and I have to agree with Ramona and Sonja on this one. Bringing your husband on a girl's vacation changes everything.

Yes, skinny dipping in front of the girls is a little slutty but swimming naked in front of your girlfriend's husband is a whole other level of slutty.  Put your clothes on ladies.  Reid is here.

Sonja & Ramona Skinny Dip

Minus 9 because Ramona and Sonja should have kept their mouths shut even if I do agree with the sentiment but what they said didn't warrant the vitriol that spewed from Aviva.

Aviva really needs to make up her mind.  Does she want everyone to treat her as normal or does she want a neon sign over her head that tells the world she must have special treatment due to all of her issues?

Ordering the ladies to gush over Reid for flying down with her was ridiculous.  Minus 11.

LuAnn did her best to make things worse and then put on her innocent face as though she said nothing. I think she was just happy the spotlight was off of her and Tomas.

And I couldn't help but laugh when Aviva admitted she was expecting a party upon her arrival. Minus 15.  Talk about arrogant.

Plus 12 to Ramona for actually apologizing and trying to smooth things over with Aviva.  For once, Ramona wasn't the craziest person in the room.

Still, I couldn't blame Sonja for not being so quick to forgive.  Friends don't call friends low class, white trash.

Aviva comparing her own behavior to that of Rush Limbaugh was quite the insight into her personality.

Aviva was stressed and angry and miserable the moment she stepped off the plane.  If her anxiety issues are that bad she should have never come.   Minus 14 for stealing everyone's fun.

We'll see if they can get it back next week.
